CAMERA TECHNIQUES
APERTURE
Aperture controls the amount of light let in, this is measured in F-stops. An F-stop of F2.8 would differ from an F-stop of F32. F32 would let in less light and therefore everything would be in focus and the depth of field would be large whereas an f-stop of f2.8 would let in more light and only certain parts of the picture would be in focus.
the Aperture is controlled by turning the setting to A on your SLR and then scrolling up and down to find your prefered aperture, however you also turn your settings to the portrait icon which is automatically set for a low f-stop or the landscape icon which is set for the opposite.

SHUTTER SPEED
shutter speed determines how fast the picture is taken. an incredibly fast shutter speed is good for taking pictures of a moving subject it allows the photographer to take pictures that appear as though they have been stopped in time.
the shutter priority is S on the camera. if the shutter is not open for long enough the pictures become dark and if it is open for too long the the pictures become too bright. the running man icon on the camera is automatically set for a fast shutter speed.
the shutter speed can also be adjusted manually on the camera. you have the option of scrolling down to B-timer (bulb) which will allow you the keep the shutter open for as long as you want
